Day 7 – Wednesday, July 1 ( Winnipeg, Manitoba)

It was a warm overcast day, with temperatures up to 24 C (75F).

I started the day by visiting Gordon and Maria Martens in Grunthal, Manitoba.

We served together a few years ago at a Mennonite Disaster Service site in Oklahoma, where we helped rebuild houses that were damaged by Tornados. Gordon was a crew leader and Maria was the cook.

After the visit I went to the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach. I was fortunate because they had free admission for Canada Day.

I took several pictures such as the ones below and I posted them at!3089&authkey=!ADTs5XokeFHsYkQ&ithint=folder%2cjpg .

As you can tell, I enjoyed the old equipment. They also had several original buildings on the site that I found interesting, including a home, a school house and a church.

The Village closed at 5 pm and I drove back to Winnipeg to visit with my cousins for a couple of hours before heading back to the hotel.

I was going to visit some friends in Saskatchewan, however, since they are not at home, I plan on driving to Alberta.
